Acts 24: 1-27
Acts 24: 1-9The Apostle Paul is in Caesarea Philippi and is facing untrue accusations from the Jewish Religious Leaders
Acts 24: 10-21The Apostle Paul defends himself to Felix the Roman Governor, admitting only that he is a follower of Jesus
Acts 24: 22-233 times previously in the Book of Acts, Paul had received fair treatment from Roman politicians
(Acts 13: 7-12, Acts 16: 35-40, Acts 18: 12-17)
Felix is not fair and delays Paul’s case for 2 years
Acts 24: 24-26 Over the next 2 years the Apostle Paul waits for his trial to resume
During the 2 years of Paul’s waiting, Felix, the Roman Governor, and his wife Drusilla meet privately with Paul, several times
Don’t be afraid to witness to people directly and truthfully about their sin,and faith in Jesus!
Here’s the problem: Talking about Sin is not popular today
Rather than admitting to Sin, people would rather say they have a ‘character weakness’
I have been studying the Bible for nearly 30 years and I can’t find any mention of the term ‘character weakness’ anywhere
Here’s the truth: Human character is not weak, it is sinful (Over 1,000 references to Sin in the Bible)
Romans 3:23 ‘For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard’.
To be free from Sin we must first admit to it, then go to God to receive His forgiveness through faith in Jesus Christ
Even though Felix had the power over Paul to harm him, Paul is fearless in witnessing to Felix and Drusilla
Acts 24: 24-26
Acts 24: 25a ‘righteousness’ = right with God ARE YOU RIGHT WITH GOD?
Acts 24: 25b ‘self control’ = right with people ARE YOU RIGHT WITH PEOPLE?
Acts 24: 25c ‘judgment to come’ ARE YOU READY TO STAND IN JUDGMENT BEFORE JESUS?
Acts 24: 24 ‘faith in Jesus’ THE ONLY WAY TO RECEIVE FORGIVENESS OF OUR SIN IS THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS
Felix and Drusilla never admitted their sin and never turned in faith to Jesus
They returned to Rome for a new assignment and left Paul’s case to the next incoming Governor –Porcius Festus Acts 24: 27
I want to encourage you today: Never be afraid to witness to people directly and truthfully about their sin and faith in Jesus!
