Believing in the resurrection of Jesus

The Apostle Paul is under arrestin Caesarea Acts 26: 1-32

Porcius Festus is the Roman Governor in charge of Paul’s case, but he has a BIG problem!

Paul has been under arrest for 2 years, but he is an innocent man!

It is the Jewish Religious Leaders who have a dispute against Paul, not Roman law Acts 25: 18-19

Porcius Festus asks King Agrippa to advise him about Paul Acts 25: 26-27

King Agrippa meets the Apostle Paul and hears his testimony Acts 26: 1

Paul talks about…

His life, before he was a Christian Acts 26: 1-11

His conversion experience Acts 26: 12-18

His ministry over the last 27 years Acts 26: 19-20

His unlawful arrest in JerusalemActs 26: 21

A brief explanation of the Message of salvation Acts 26: 22-23

At the heart of Paul’s testimony to King Agrippa is his belief in the RESURRECTION OF JESUS

God’s promise of the RESURRECTION OF JESUS is the central message of the Old Testament Acts 26: 6-8

The Apostle Paul’s conversion was based on his own experience of the RESURRECTION OF JESUS Acts 26: 12-16

Paul’s Message throughout his many years of ministry was the RESURRECTION OF JESUS Acts 26: 22-23

Why was Paul so strong on the RESURRECTION OF JESUS?

The RESURRECTION OF JESUS is the foundation of our faith

1 Corinthians 15:14‘If Christ hasn’t come back to life, our message has no meaning and your faith also has no meaning’

1 Corinthians 15:17 ‘And if Christ has not been raised from death, then your faith is for nothing; you are still guilty of your sins’.

Good News! 1 Corinthians 15:20 ‘…Christ really has been raised from death’

We must believe in the RESURRECTION OF JESUS to be saved!

Romans 10:9‘If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved’

Now, look at the response to Paul’s testimony

Porcius Festus – Acts 26: 24 Anger and personal attack!

King Agrippa – Acts 26: 28 Sarcasm and dismissal

I’m sure that everyone of us who believe in Jesus, have faced the same kind of response as Paul when we have testified of our belief in Jesus and His resurrection

But, like Paul, we must never back down Acts 26: 29

1 Corinthians 15:58‘…dear friends, stand your ground. And don’t hold back. Throw yourselves into the work of the Lord, confident that nothing you do for him is a waste of time or effort’.

Both the Jewish King and the Roman Governor agree that Paul is innocent, but because Paul appealed his case to the Roman Emperor, he must continue under Roman arrest and go to Rome

Acts 26: 30-32
